Bistro Sous le Fort

Ever since the beginning of this marvelous journey, we strive to make your experience in our restaurant one of your most pleasant and memorable souvenirs of Quebec City. Your satisfaction will always be our main source of inspiration and our greatest reward.

A part of history
The original wooden structure which stood on this site was built in 1650 then purchased by Claude Chasle in 1669. Destroyed in the great fire of 1682, Claude Chasle immediately rebuilt his home, this time out of stone. The building has seen many owners and housed many different businesses since then. The most famous owner was Louis-Alexandre Taschereau who was Premiere of the Province of Quebec from 1920-1936. Between 1928 and 1962 the ground floor housed a barber shop with his living quarters on the upper flors. Then the years 1962-1982 saw a printer and his presses occupy the building. Now it is the stoves, our ovens but most of all your presence that keeps the spirit of what is now known as Chasle house alive.
